I’m a fan of Starbucks, that is my go to celebratory drink of choice (that’s non-alcoholic of course). They are a little pricey and the closest Starbucks is still about 5 blocks from work so I keep my trips to a minimum. I know Starbucks is a very popular stop for many people and they offer a wide variety of drinks and treats. According to some coworkers, my Facebook and Twitter it’s not uncommon for people to frequent Starbucks…daily. So I thought I would share…
Yesterday, a coworker (thank you!) sent me this article about how they are using dried bugs in their Strawberry Frappuccino drinks! Eww, I understand trying to keep things all natural (or as close to it as possible) but bugs? Really?!?! Why not just use one real strawberry? Do people really care about color that much?

Article found here at Click2Houston News and at This Dish is Vegetarian
Grossed out too? Sign the petition to get them to stop! Hopefully this will also encourage other companies using these beetles to stop as well!
I wonder what other products they use this ingredient in (besides the few mentioned, Poptarts, Jams, Jellies, etc.) Yuck!

Really they use it for color? So weird. Isn't that what food coloring is for? :s
Wow, if we knew that before on our walks to Starbucks we could have collected a few from the trees and asked for a discount! lol
Ewww!! That makes me really glad I don't drink strawberry flavored drinks! I'll stick with my salted caramel mochas thankyouverymuch. Hopefully there aren't any bugs in those!
Agh!! That's so gross! Why not just use a strawberry?? On a side note, a friend of mine who was studying nutrition once told me that when you see "other natural ingredients" or something to that effect on a label, it's most likely referring to things like this. Ew ew ew.
